Linda--Shades of the past. I served as Title IX Coordinator for my school system from 1974 to 1980. In that capacity I conducted the district's self-study (equivalent I said at the time to a Master's thesis), a year long workshop partnered with Boston University and a full day of professional workshops run by our own teachers for our own teachers. I burned out on the issue around 1980 and had to tend my own garden. Also decided that the world did not want saving. But I feel better now :-) My Title IX archives are at school and I am at home. I will post information from school tomorrow (Jan 5). It was not called gender equity then. There is now a program called GESA which is running in about 15 states (I am very unsure of that figure) including RI. In fact, the woman who brought it to our state is from my building. GESA is a teacher training teacher program on how to bring gender equity into the classroom. carolan@ids.net LM_NET IS A JOY!
