Dear Fellow LM_Netters,
Back in 1981, Marshall University used the term "educational
media department (EDM)" for our teachers wanting library skills. I was back
there this past Christmas and discovered they had changed the department
name to "instructional technology and library science (ITL)".
Who knows? Maybe if our libraries keep evolving to cover all
forms of information retrival, our training classes may go back to being
called "library skills" and people will understand fully without having
to be reminded that we do more than read stories and check out books.
