Syracuse University offers a Master of Library Science degree through the Independent Study Degree Program (ISDP) sponsored by the School of Information Studies, an internationally recognized leader in library and information science. The ISDP program begins with a two- or three-week campus summer session. One or two additional core courses can be taken each semester over the next two academic years with elective courses offered during the School's Summer Institute on Leadership and Change in Libraries. The internship is completed at a library or information center close to the student's home. These courses combine two elements: short on-campus residencies and self-paced study that you complete at home. The program draws on the School's diverse faculty members' expertise in such areas as library and information science, instructional technology, information systems, telecommunications, public management, business, and communications. MLS students may also specialize in school media.
