  Syracuse University offers a Master of Library Science degree through
the Independent Study Degree Program (ISDP) sponsored by the School of
Information Studies, an internationally recognized leader in library and
information science.  The ISDP program begins with a two- or three-week
campus summer session.  One or two additional core courses can be taken
each semester over the next two academic years with elective courses
offered during the School's Summer Institute on Leadership and Change in
Libraries.  The internship is completed at a library or information center
close to the student's home.  These courses combine two elements: short
on-campus residencies and self-paced study that you complete at home.  The
program draws on the School's diverse faculty members' expertise in such
areas as library and information science, instructional technology,
information systems, telecommunications, public management, business, and
communications.  MLS students may also specialize in school media.  For
