I teach a seminar on automating school libraries at a local University.  I
tell my classes that automation WILL NOT save you time (in total).  It
=will=, however, make the time you spend more productive.  One doesn't
spend as much time doing overdues or checkout, but you will be doing
things you never did before - backup, authorities processing, etc.
