Child-centered circulation

In answer to Frieda's question about child-centered circulation, I have
a Media Club who do the circulation desk duties plus they get "points" for
shelving books.  They also have a section of books which they check each
week and keep in order to get a point.  Since we have 76 members we can
schedule 2 students per hour each day on a rotating schedule so they only
miss a regular class once every 9 weeks by being on duty in the Media
Center.  They are trained each fall so they learn a lot about the workings
behind the scenes!  We have a field trip each spring.  AND we have a
waiting list of prospective new members!  Oh, and they each sign a contract
which states that they are responsible for their duties in the Media Center
but that their school work comes first if there's a conflict! :>  We love
'em all and have a lot of good times!
