An old and still respected Navy custom for the Officers (who are
gentlemen) is a sign that is posted at the entrances of most clubs-
"All ye who entered covered here, buys the bar a round of cheer".
I have never bought, but have been compensated more than thrice by
wayward persons who forgot.
