Recently I asked for titles of books where the author and illustrator collaborated together. The following were answers I received. Thank you to the people who responded. Deloris Burke K-6 Media Specialist Nashville TN Paul Venancio wrote "Check out the very large number of wonderfully coordinated books for the younger reader produced by the husband ( illustrator)/ wife (author) team--last name Maestro. We have had the Maestros come talk to our elementary youngsters as part of our Meet the Author/Illustrator series--and they were wonderful. Most of what they do is nonfiction." Barb Baker wrote "First titles that come to my mind are the Magic Schoolbus books by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degan...John Schezica and Lane Smith--they have done a number of fairy tale spinoffs...Audrey and Don Wood who have King Bidgood's in the Bathtub, Heckedy Peg, Napping House, etc... Eric Kimmel and Janet Stevens have done several of Eric's Anansu stories." Lorena Nalin suggested a book titled THE PICTUREBOOK; SOURCE AND RESOURCE FOR ART EDUCATION by Hammond, Howard, Marantz, Packard, Shaw & Wilson put out by The National Art Education Association. She wrote "Art of the Picturebook - its history, what it is and how picturebooks tell stories, picturebook artists, craftsmanship, parts of picturebooks and how they work together. An art teacher works with a classroom teacher - peering tutoring, a case study, personal reading, early and shared writing, the book lab and team teaching. Experiences and activities for each grade lever (K-5) - with sample on synthesis, evaluation, extending lessons, and art activities .---An annotated bibilography of picture books, a short bibliography of pop -up books and photographs of sample illustrations from picturbooks."
