TARGET: CA. Innovative library/media center programs

I live in Orland, California.  I am the district librarian for three
elementary school library/media centers.  I am about 2 hrs away from the
Sacramento area.  Orland is located in Northern CA. and right off of
Interstate 5.

 Here is my request:  I am looking to visit innovative library/media center
programs in the greater area around Sacramento, and San Francisco.

  I have been given the opportunity to re-design a library/media center into
a very exciting learning resource center.  The media center will become The
Discovery-Media center.  The new re-designed look will include lots of hands
on science activities, many taxidermy animals and birds on display, computer
interactive literature material, and a computer network upgrade for
Circulation
Plus and Catalog Plus.

  I want to visit innovative programs that show an open flexible scheduling
for a computer lab and media center.  It would be wonderful if I could visit
a program that also has lots of hands on science activities going  on within
the
media center.
