Well, I didn't get as many answers as I had hoped for--obviously, not that many Elementary schools have networked CD ROM towers yet! Thanks to the following people for sending their recommendations from Germany, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nebraska! Cathy Rae Deborah Stafford Lynn McCree Anne Hollenbeck Vickye Drury Sylvia Adair Jo Schaeer Here are the findings: World Book Info Finder - 5 Sirs - 4 Encarta - 1 Musical Instruments - 1 Magic Schoolbus - 1 Dinosaurs - 1 Microsoft anything! Ebsco Primary Search - 1 I am planning on getting World Book Info Finder, as well as a good atlas and dictionary (if I can find a good, networkable one of each). I also want to put on the Student Writing and Publishing Center for WIN (I think that's the title...) for grades 3-5. Later, as we get more computers in the classrooms, I will want a publishing program for younger students, and hope to find a younger age networkable CD encyclopedia (am checking into one that I heard about...) Of course, all this depends on my principal's funding...but she is gung ho! Any more suggestions...please write me!
