I have a sample issue of a new periodical that looks very good for multicultural education. It's called FORKROADS: A Journal of Ethnic-American Literature. It's edited by Newbery-honor author David Kherdian. Nonny Hogrogian, two-time Caldecott winner, is the art director. The first issue includes peotry, fiction, memoirs, an interview with Piri Thomas and a super article about growing up in America, called "Jews without Yiddish". The writing is literate and substantial. This would be great for secondary teachers to use with multicultural units or just for English teachers to use as good literature. If you're interested in more info: Forkroads Box 150 Spencertown, NY 12165 Subscriptions are $20 a year in US. $25 in Canada. $35 overseas. I'm not connected with this periodical--just want to share the word about a good new product. Patricia Gosda (pgosda@vms1.nysed.gov) Van Antwerp Middle School Niskayuna, NY
