At the beginning of this time (usually after a lesson), each child receives his or her "placemarker", which is used to mark the place of a book removed from the shelf. A placemarker is a strip of oaktag marked with each student's name and room number. The students place their marker on the shelf each time they remove a book. When they have chosen their two books, they go back to their tables with the books and their placemarker. They sign their cards and bring them to the circulation desk. The placemarkers are collected at the end of each period and placed in the folder for that day's classes. This really helps to keep the shelves in order. Good luck! I hope this helps you....Rhonda Rhonda Weintraub, library media specialist Forest Avenue Elementary School West Babylon, N. Y. 11704
