I had asked for your help in adding to my list of school websites with
curricular hotlinks--especially those that are annotated or have student
activities. Below are the wonderful responses I received. The staff
development course I am teaching this week can be overviewed at
http://polk.ga.net/QCC/QCCWWW.html. It's been an exciting summer project
to get prepared for this workshop. If you haven't tried creating web
pages to organize your staff development instruction on line I encourage
you to try it. Susan

Check out our page referenced below. Good luck!

The Social Studies Department of Montgomery County Public Schools has
an excellent home page. Even links to fieldtrips.
http://www.mcps.k12.md.us/schools
When you get in, go into the curriculum areas and find social studies.
Enjoy.

I have set up some theme-related links on our school's web page in the
virtual library section. To get directly to that portion of the web
page, go to:

I am the webmaster of our high school library's homepage
(http://www.rcs.rang.k12.va.us/SCHOOLS/RCHS/Library/RCHSLIB.htm). Part
of that page is a large section devoted to curriculum links
(http://www.rcs.rang.k12.va.us/SCHOOLS/RCHS/Library/CURRICLM/CURRILINK.htm).
I have organized that section based on our schools program of studies.
Although I consider it all to be very much "under construction" you
might get some help from it. Our server at school is currently not
operational so I can't upload my most recent updates. It has been made
without input from any teachers - it is just something that I work on
hoping that it will be of help to them. I am still working on trying to
get them to add to it, make suggestions for modification, etc. You
might also get some leads from the page on Education Gateways
(http://www.rcs.rang.k12.va.us/SCHOOLS/RCHS/Library/EDUCGATE/edgates.htm).
This lists and annotates sites that relate to education in too general a
way to have them listed in any particular subject area. In addition to
this site I have also just begun a page of elementary links for my
daughter who will be student teaching in Baltimore this fall. Her page
is http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/2223/elemeduc.htm Since
this page is on Geocities I can update it whenever I want and I will be
doing so later today. There is one site there that I just happened to
stumble onto that may be of particular interest to you. The Baltimore
County Schools have a site that gives some curriculum links by grade
level. The Elementary grades site is
http://www.bcpl.lib.md.us/centers/education/LibraryWeb/elem/Elem_level.html
Since my area is high school I have spent much more time in that area
but now with my daughter's page I am looking for elem ideas also. I
look forward to what you get from others. If I come across any others
I'll let you know.
Good luck with your course,
Nancy

My elementary page is not as thorough, but may give a little insight
of one way to create a school page by curricular area. See my
"Resources for Students" page (near the bottom).

Another place to look for ideas about your whole course would be
Mustang: A Web Cruising Vehicle (http://mustang.coled.umn.edu/) It is
part of Web 66.
Kid Info (http://www.kidinfo.com/) is a site recently mentioned in a
message from Ted Latham (of the Discovery Channel School Online's
Spotlight on School Websites
[http://school.discovery.com/schoolspotlight/index.html]) to wwwedu, a
listserv I subscribe to. Kid Info is the site of the Village Elementary
School in Canfield, OH. They list many links to use with their
curriculum.
