First book challenge...

Well, I knew it would happen eventually...

This is my second school, and this is the first challenge for me AND my
principal.

The book is entitled I Saw Esau, and is illustrated by Maurice Sendak.
It has the naked boys in it, and a woman breastfeeding, and MY personal
favorite, a poem called Reality...

All the girls in our town live a happy life,
   Ecxcept J. C. -
She wants a usband, a husband she shall have,
A dicky, dicky dandy, a daughter of her own.
Send her upstairs, put her to bed,
Send for the doctor before she is dead
In comes the doctor, out goes the cat,
In comes Jimmie with his chimney hat.
I'm saucy, Jimmie says, I need a bonnie lassie.
        The rose is red,
        The violet's blue,
        Sugar is sweet,
        and so are you.
        If I stay
        Mother will say
        I'm playing with the boys
        Up the way.

The drawings depict the girl sitting alone by the window as a naked
chimney sweep comes in.  In the next frame, she has a baby, and then the
doctor comes and she says she had a dream.  In the last frame, she is
dragging off a guy with the same hat as the naked boy, and carrying a
baby.

Personally, I could understand the parents' surprise and dislike of the
book--I'm not exactly thrilled, either.

However...I am following district policy to the letter in this one.  We
will see what happens!
