les of bad web sites (poor
in quality, that is). While waiting for responses, I came across a great
example in the ALA Cognotes for January 1998:
        Feline Reactions to Bearded Men
                www.improb.com/airchives/cat.html
This looks like a nice site, but when you start to read it, you see it's
made up. This site is a link from "Hoax? Scholarly Research? Personal
Opinion? You Decide!" Which is an online lesson in web evaluation.
struct/hoax/evlinfo.htm)

Sites recommended: (I have not checked these out myself yet, so please
preview!!!)
        www.realaroma.com

        http://www.lme.mankato.msus.edu/mankato/mankato.html

        http://www.teleport.com/~petlin/liplib/

        http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/index3.html

        http://www.indonesiatoday.com/a1/a1_index.html
          (May be a propaganda site)

        http://www.worstoftheweb.com/
(The Worst of the Web-- 3 bad websites daily)

        http://www.alexchiu.com/eternallife/index.html
(Alex Chiu's amazing invention to allow eternal life)

        http://www.unlimited.net/~kumbach/velcro.html
        (Velcro crop threatened in Calif.)

Also worth demo-ing...
        www.whitehouse.com
        www.whitehouse.net
        www.whitehouse.gov
The final domain means the difference between porno sites and the
         legitimate Whitehouse site.

Try doing a search using the keywords "TWA 800". You'll find lots of
sites with opinion presented as fact, if that's one of the things you're
looking for.

Bill Clinton - http://www.whitehouse.org/cduties.html/cfmain.html
This site claims that Bill Clinton's most important job is playing golf.
You might also want to pick up a copy of the article "I read it on the
computer, it must be true" in Learning and Leading with Technology ,
November 1997. This article deals with the topic you are teaching,
critical viewing, and offers possible websites and lesson ideas.

On this page there are a number of great resources for building web pages
but there is also a link titled "Web pages that suck" and another called
"Sucky to Savvy" which shows some good and bad sites. The use of the
word Suck is not my favorite either but these were intended for adult
classes taking web design instruction. If you object to that title, you
can just copy the various links and not let the kids see this page.

At this site, choose Web Page Types with a reference to Alexander and
Tate. This is a link on my Netscape browser where there is a
bibliography. If it is not for you, use the following address. In
Beck's article, click examples and you will find excellent, so-so, and
poor examples.

I don't know if this is the type of thing your looking for, but these
two sites are put out by organizations that deny the Nazi atrocities.
