Automation justification

Happy New Year to all!  I am preparing to submit a proposal to my
principal to automate our middle school (5-8) library.  He wants facts and
figures, which I have, but I also wanted to include some anecdotal and
perhaps research-based justifications as to "why automate."

If anyone has any thoughts or knows of any articles you could point me to,
I would be very grateful.  I seem to be having a bad case of writer's
block with this very important issue!
