Hi all!

For the benefit of the IRC Newbies ... I humorously reacted to the message
one gave me. But it could be literally true. I've been chatting for more
than 2 years now and maybe had enough of the IRC stuff. Chat rooms are
great.

A warning to consider though: I've been into countless chatrooms already
but the 'message sent' could be alarming. The IRC and the Chatrooms are an
open ground. 'Anonymous' signatures (nicknames) will also be abounding in
the channels. It is also an ideal place for harassment. Non-LM_Netters,
channel grabbers, and naughty bots can easily spot and get into #LM_Chat or
#LM_Conf and do their stuff.

Nevertheless ... IRC is GREAT!!!

For the newbies, you can check out http://www.mirc.co.uk and download IRC
intro for more details about the IRC and how to chat. I think one of the
best ways to get up and running to #LM_LIVE is to consult with your kids
(students) out there. They may have gone through IRC without you knowing.

Also, is @OPR8TR (operator) an IRC BOT, IRCop or a Channel Operator (any
#LM_LIVE channel owner confirm this)?

So see you chat around ...

This is one of the strange things about Chat rooms. They are wide open. My
first reaction to the person's line was that it was playful and fun.

I think that we will have to use a more "open and accepting" mindset in
the chats. It is a more freewheeling venue than the LM_NET listserver.

This has a lot of potential for us! Let's try and work on it to see if we
can develop this to our mutual benefit the way we have with LM_NET!
