To all LM_NET subscribers, I am a student in the Instructional Technology Dept. at the University of Georgia. For my very last class (Research), I am working on a research project about Internet Filtering Software and Library Media Specialist's attitudes about filtering. I hope to collect enough data through this short survey to make some conclusions about who is using filters, how they are working in schools that use them, and Media Specialist's attitudes concerning filters. Please, will everyone take just a few minutes to copy this survey, answer the 9 short questions (it is fine to be very brief) and reply directly to me (LisaDAdams@aol.com) so that I can analyze the results and begin writing my report asap. The more people to respond, the better. I will appreciate it very much and I will post the results as a HIT if there is interest. It is not necessary to include your name. ********************************* 1. Are you in a public or private school? Is it an Elementary, Middle, or High School? (or list grades) 2. Briefly describe your educational/certification level. 3. Does your school use Internet filtering software? 4. If so, why? (ex. my choice, committee decision, administration wanted it, past problems, already in place when I came, etc.) If not, why not? 5. If you use an Internet filter, which brand do you use? Would you recommend any particular brand? 6. Describe any positive or negative results you have had using filters. (problems solved? problems caused?) 7. Would you call your attitude about filtering more neutral, positive or negative? 8. If you do not use filters, what method(s) do you use/suggest to discourage inappropriate use of the Internet by students? 9. Additional comments: Thank you for completing this survey. *********************************** Lisa Adams Media Specialist (next year) Morgan County High School Madison, Georgia LisaDAdams@aol.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST * NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
