That is a sad reflection of the loss of understanding that "man" in that
context has nothing to do with male vs. female or masculine vs. feminine,
but refers to the species (and etymologically is related to the word "mind"
-- it has absolutely nothing to do with gender).  Oh, well.  That horse left
the barn long ago ...
