I have five Power MACs which are in their fourth year of use ... suddenly three of the mice have decided they will only move vertically ... not horizontally when rolled on the mouse pad. All in one week!!! I've cleaned them. I had a volunteer who is computer wise look at them and she cleaned them. She moved the inside part with her finger and it works fine. She suggested that perhaps the mouse balls have become worn. We even switched mouse pads to see if that could be the problem. My Ms-Dos mice which are over ten years old have never had this problem. What am I missing? I've even asked if there was something in the program that a student might have adjusted to cause this to happen. I was told no. If I need to replace mouse balls... where do I order them? I had several mouse balls stolen (and it's happening again in the lab and classrooms) even though they are locked ... and we will need a quantity of them. When it happened before I couldn't find any ... called Apple and was sent two or three but they really didn't work very well. Do I need to buy new mice????? (I have an intensive research project next week and need to get this problem solved.) HELP!!! Thanks in advance!
