Hi ... The definitive starting point is _Writer's_Market_, published by Writer's Digest. It is loaded with information. The 1999 edition has just been published (or should appear in stores very shortly). The same publisher might also have a more specialized volume on publishers of material (books and articles) for children, though I do not have that information right at hand. www.amazon.com (and other online booksellers) should carry _Writer's_Market_ at a discount.. For whatever it is worth, it is prudent to scout the market (including potential publishers) before writing (or at least before completing) a manuscript. That is what the professionals typically do.
