I allow my students to check out up to 4 books at a time. They can slso = come any time to exchange them for more. But I also let them check out = more if I know they can handle them. I have one student who is trying to = read every book in the library before he leaves after fifth grade. I understand being the only librarian in a school of 400+ students. I did = it for 11 years. Aren't we here to provide as much reading material to = our patrons as possible? What is more important, keeping the library = neat and tidy by getting everything shelved before the next class comes = in with each student checking out one or two books a week or letting = things pile up because your students are reading books faster than you can = get them to the shelf? I let the students check books off the cart--those = are books I don't have to shelve! I've discovered that I have more readers in my school than I thought = because they are checking out and reading more books since I let them = check out more books.=20 Sharon Arndt Frank Rushton Elementary=20 Kansas City, Kansas sharndt@gw.kckps.k12.ks.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
