REF: Doughnut History

My son needs information on the history of doughnuts/donuts for a fifth grade
report.  We have gone to the public library, checked Encarta and World Book
online and  Electric Library, done various Web searches, looked at the Joy of
Cooking and the Little House Cookbook. We've found recipes and little bits
and pieces of historical info, but that's all.  Any suggestions for sources
of historical information?
