Hooray for Scholastic!

I have tried other bookfairs also but Scholastic has proven themselves over
and over again for me (when I was in the public school / special school
libraries). Imagine trying to convince a bookfair company that 50% of your
students are blind and the other 50% are visually impaired!! Do you think
we would be taken seriously about wanting a bookfair?

We had only 120 students in our school (Oklahoma School for the Blind) but
we usually always had $700-$800 in sales of print materials!!! That's not
much...but it was wonderful for us! It allowed my students the opportunity
to have books that their brothers and sisters had the opportunity to buy.
In fact, many of my student bought books in print FOR their family members
to read (usually to them also!)

Not everyone has had wonderful experiences (maybe not even with Scholastic)
but our kids loved it! I think they have gone above and beyond the call of
duty with their support of schools, teachers, librarians, and reading
programs! If you haven't yet tried them, I think you'll like what you get!

(...and don't forget to ask for the Scholastic character costumes like Ms.
Frizzle or Clifford the Big Red Dog! When I or my assistants dressed-up to
visit the classes and invite them to the bookfair, the kids went crazy!
--they could touch, talk, feel, stroke, ask questions!! Those are the
memories that make learning to read fun...at least that's what the kids
have always told me! I believe it made an impression!)

Thanks, Scholastic for all your support...and for making memories!
