One very simple tool that I use is a mandatory sign up sheet which I keep
in my desk drawer. They must speak with me before they can schedule their
classes into the library. At the time of signing up, I have the chance to
query them about their class research needs. 100% guaranteed way to get
the info from them. Also opens many opportunities to do further
collaboration.
