I've just discovered a wonderful book for the summer, although it is something of a busman's holiday. _Dear Genius: The Letters of Ursula Nordstrom_ In case you don't recognize the name (I didn't right off), Ursula Nordstrom was the director of Harper's Department of Books for Boys and Girls from 1940 to 1977. She was the editor for Crocket Johnson, Clement Hurd, E.B. White, Ezra Jack Keets, Ruth Krauss, Louise Fitzhughes, Margaret Wise Brown, and Maurice Sendak, just to name a few. The correspondence is especially wonderful if you know and love the books being worked on. A retired children's librarian showed it to me just now and then took it home with her. I'm off to my local independent bookstore to buy it. --------------------- Johanna Halbeisen Woodland Elementary School (preK-4) 80 Powder Mill Rd.
