Strange problem. Computer accessing network just fine, then not. NIC (Winbond W89C840F) has two steady green lights and one flashing amber. First, tried new cable. No change. Then, there was no listing of an adapter in the system device list so I tried to install the hardware drivers. WIN 98 SE did not pick up the card as plug and play so I chose from list. Found the drivers on hard drive, didn't have to use a disk. The wizard reported everything as installed but still no listing of adapter in the system device list. Went to Network Properties and removed adapter there. When I tried to add it back, it reports that the device is plug and play, start computer to install. When I restart the computer it doesn't pick up the card. Any suggestions? I opened up the computer to reseat the NIC but haven't plugged it back in. I have a funny feeling it's not going to be that easy.
