We have had flexible scheduling in the elementary libraries of my district for several years now and have been very happy with it. We were given this flexible scheduling by making computer lab time a "special." Students have two physical education, one art, one music, and one computer "special" each week in order to provide planning times for teachers. As our teachers are becoming more computer literate they want to be in the computer lab with their students during that time and don't want it to be their "special." I can understand this and I agree with them, but I don't want the library to provide planning times either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does your school use a creative method for providing planning times? I will post a hit if people are interested.
