Here are the suggestions I received for getting spine label and label protectors to stick onto the "rough" type of hardcover common to reference books. Thanks to everyone for the great ideas. 1. Set the books on a table with the spine up. Paint a thin layer of library glue over the label. Let it dry overnight. The glue wil make a clear plastic seal that will work on any book. 2. One librarian uses "label-lock" from the Library Store. www.thelibrarystore.com 800-603-3536 3. Use foil back labels from Brodart, then cover them with jar lar tape. (I am not familiar with this kind of tape) 4. Use 3 M Book Repair Tape. Comes in a red box...librarian thinks it's #845. -- Robin S.
