Do you allow the whole class to be up and at the shelves at the same time searching for books? If not, *what do you do with the students who are NOT on the floor to choose a book*? I have had several responses to my first post concerning basically this question. BEST TIP THUS FAR -- Take a cart first thing in the morning to the classrooms of students who will have library that day and get all books checked IN before the first class arrives to check out. SECOND BEST TIP -- Create student library cards with barcodes and place in pockets on bulletin board by classes. Have students come to the circ. desk *with library card in hand* to check out their books. Now I MUST find something to do with the ones NOT on the floor, unless a majority of you who respond say to allow the entire class up at the same time. I'm TRYING to run an information-skills curriculum here, too -- but, even with 50 minute periods can't seem to get it all in and keep order.
