As long as we are in the AR mood, how 'bout one more AR question?

We are getting ready to purchase the AR program and are trying to decide if
it is worth buying the package with the STAR program. Is STAR just another
reading test like Terra Nova, etc., or does it provide some other
information that will make the AR program more effective? The information
provided by Advantage doesn't make it very clear. Could we just use reading
levels reported in some standardized test to get our students going on the
program? If you bought the complete package from Advantage would you do so
again if you were starting over?

We are automated with Follett for Windows and we are going to have them
check our database for AR titles and buy as many tests as we can afford.
The whole school is networked so kids will be able to take the AR test right
in the classroom or in the library. Any other suggestions for a high school
just starting out with this program?
