discipline while checkout /in is going on. I

I only have trouble with my kindegarten classes (three) in a k-5school
becoming wild while I am at the circulation desk .  The other grades do
pretty well.  This week I am going by the classrooms to pick up the kin.
books and check them in before the classes come (we have 45 minute blocks)
.By cutting my time at the circulation desk while the students are there--I
hope this will save time and provide me more time to supervise. I do a story
or two, then check out books.   Once students check their books out they must
sit quietly in a special area to wait on the others. I have thought of doing
learning centers,  but frankly I am new and have not had time to whip those
up. Try the pre-checking in  of books and maybe that will help.
