Dear Terry: I just finished a study of how to determine the quality of a library collection. I used the Sunlink site and the Weed of the Month that was established by LM_NET. My instructor said that for the purpose of my study, I was to take the shelf list and only count books that were six years old or newer. My collection scored 50% out of date. Look at Sunlink http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/weed/ and see if it helps. This number shocked me! I am wondering if there is a standard for this. Does this seem high to anyone else? What might be an ideal number or something I can set a goal to? (Note: I am a first year librarian) Thanks for any input. Terrie Hinojosa South Houston Elem. (Tx) hinojosa_baker@yahoo.com _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
