A fourth grade teacher is concerned about the centipede's remarks to the
other animals when he says, "You ass." She's wondering what the centipede
really means when he says this. Is he actually calling the other animal a
dunce, the present day connotation, a donkey, or something else? She'd like
some clarification so she can discuss this with her students. Thanks in
advance for any input.
