Dear Group,

We are building a new high school library media center
with a classroom-size computer lab in one area (a
separate room with glass walls between the LMC and lab
area). We have been considering purchasing Nova
tables--the kind where the top surface is flat and the
monitors are underneath. The reason we considered
these is that it would make the room more
multi-functional, so it could be used as a research
classroom and/or a computer research lab, depending on
the research assignment.

My question is, does anyone have this type of setup
(Nova stations) and does it work? I'm a little
concerned that teachers might have more difficulty
keeping an eye on students to make sure they are on
task.  BTW, this won't be the only lab in our school;
there are two other labs (one for computer classes and
one for students to use for independent use), so its
intended use is for classroom research projects only.
I'm just not sure about how well a teacher can
supervise with this type of setup. Any
comments/recommendations?

Thanks,
Kathy Ballard
