Notice that "reads" is in quotes - I just finished hearing John Jakes' 'On Secret Service' while driving PA/IN/PA and boy did the time fly!!! There are 12 tapes (19 hours) and the only thing I didn't like was that at the beginning of each tape the narrator (Michael Kramer) announced "On Secret Service by John Jakes, tape one, side two." If you like either Jakes' work (historical fiction) and/or the Civil War, you will like this one. It "grabs" you from the opening lines and holds you until the last.
