I only got 2 responses (but many requests for a HIT) to my query regarding saving my favorites and address book in AOL to transfer when I switch to another ISP. Here are the 2 responses that I got: ****************************************************************************** ******* AOL has it's own "favorites" . It's your files in the AOL/ORG folder. Unfortunately, the only program that can read those files is AOL. However, if you know what your new email address will be, you can drag the URLs to an email and send it to your new address. Then you have to open each link and resave it to the IE favorites. You could do something similar by opening "Edit" in Favorites Places, then using copy and paste to copy each URL to an IE window that you opened outside of AOL and saving them that way. Either method is time consuming, but AOL is designed not to mesh well with other outside applications. Sorry there is no easier way. ****************************************************************************** ******** For Favorites pull down File to Import and Export and follow the wizard. Or open Windows Explorer, Go to C:\Windows\Favorites (Windows 9X and Me) or C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Favorites (Windows 2000 and XP). Right Click the Favorites folder. Choose Send To 3.5 Floppy (A). If it's too big for floppy copy it to a network folder or Zip disk. The AOL 5 Address Book is proprietary and I don't know of any easy computer conversion tools. If you're moving to Outlook Express then you might try to create a AOL message with as many addresses as it will hold on the To: line. Highlight, Copy the line of addresses and open a new Outlook Express message window, and paste the line in. Doubleclick each entry to get the dialog for "Add to address book" ****************************************************************************** ******** Brenda Young, Library Media Specialist Rosehill Elementary Omaha, NE brenda525@aol.com (home) youngbl@ops.org (work) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
