Hello folks, and thanks for asking. Our district is about 40-50 miles north of Seattle. To us, it felt like the ground rolled under us--like going over a really big speed bump while standing still. I display books on top of the stacks--not a one fell over. The kids were FANTASTIC! We did the drop and cover, under the table drill we have practiced sooo many times, waited for the ground to stand still and had the entire school district of about 2500 kids and 300 staff and volunteers evacuated and accounted for in 8 minutes. After 22 minutes, we had done the building checks for safety and were allowed back. On the news, the damage you see is further south. We are very lucky that the quake was so deep--it kept the damage down.
