I think this is a very accurate statement. I began reading when I was three and have read voraciously since then. I loved Dick, Jane, Spot, Puff and Sally but I'd never foist them on my grandchildren now. They are so much more sophisticated than we were. Best to all! T. K. It is a very different world, at home and at school, than the one most of us grew up in during the mid-20th cent. I don't believe we can transplant the learning experience from then into today because everything else around that experience is different. And I think that because the 50's style of education worked for those of us who have succeeded doesn't mean it worked for everyone. Most of those homeless people on the street also went to school with us--something didn't work quite as well for them.
