I have been reading the Arkansas Charlie May Simon books and have just finished When Zachary Beaver Came to Town. I loved it, but I am having mixed feelings about my 4th grades reading it. I think the children will like it...it's the parent I have a concern over. Our 4th graders read the state books and this year are going to compete just among other 4th graders in our our co-op area. They have always competed with the 5th and 6th. I had a "stir" with a parent over one of Robert Munsch's books... It is a wonderful book. I thought maybe I would send a note home to the parents forewarning them. Any ideas would help.
