I have a teacher who has assigned students to research a legend... any legend. One 4th grade boy wants to find out more about the Indian legend referred to in Wilson Rawls' book "Where the Red Fern Grows".( A young Indian boy and girl freeze to death; in that very spot a red fern springs from the earth.) It looks like an impossible task, but I'm so delighted the boy remembered this detail from the book (it was read to him as a second grader).... and to be honest it also has me curious. Any ideas or collective wisdom on this particular legend out there?? !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
