help with books

Dear LM_NETTERS,

     I am having difficulty with book orders this
year.  I need to order Autobiographies for both Middle
school ages and for the younger elementary grades
(around 2nd).  Winnowing the autobios. from the
regular bios is difficult at best.  Does anyone out
there have some good suggestions for me  in one of
both of those age groups.

     Also,  I am trying to remember two books, they
are fiction and one is mainly about math and the other
about science.  It is about a girl(?) who finds
herself in a world filled with animals that have
symbols from the periodic chart on them.  They were
very interesting books, but I read them too long ago
to remember them clearly, any bells ringer for folks
out there?
