Hi Folks-- I'm putting together a bibliography of 9/11 books maybe for one of my upcoming "Book Talk" columns in Instructor. I'm looking for links and suggestions I might have overlooked. Searched the archives & found requests for titles, but no real hits. I might need to expand it to patriotic titles, of which I have plenty, and I'm calling publishers to see what's coming out this fall. Scholastic, for instance, has Sam Fink's The Declaration of Independence, just published, and the forthcoming NY Times young reader's version of A Nation Challenged, which I can't wait to see--it's not ready yet, though. Random House has Mary Pope Osborne's New York's Bravest, Farrar has Allan Drummond's Liberty!, and there's a new one by Maira Kalman from Penguin called Fireboat, which I haven't seen yet. Oh yes, and the Nat. Geog. Soc.'s It's Still a Dog's New York by Susan L. Roth. If you have any good tie-ins--dealing with trauma, like Smoky Night, I'd love to know. I'll post a hit. We've never had to deal with death and destruction on a large scale in children's lit before. How times do change... Thanks for your always-welcome and wonderful insights.
