While reading a post about sharing information with your principal, I was reminded of a workshop by Gary Hartsell during Tennessee's Association of School Librarian's conference last year. One of the questions to consider from a long list was whether your principal is a morning, afternoon, or evening person. I mentioned this in passing to him after the conference and found out he was absolutely a morning person. This gave me the chance to change my approach with him as I am absolutely NOT a morning person. Now I do my creative stuff in the afternoon and leave it on his desk to read in the morning when he is fresh. No longer do I run in with all my "great ideas" when he is tired, drained, overwhelmed and shutting down. This helped him, also. If he meets me at the door with coffee, I know right away his creative juices are flowing and attempt to smile in the early morning! Diane R.
