Though if you have a smaller library (less than 20,000 titles or
so) you may be perfectly happy with the Abridged Dewey. The
current version is the 13th edition (1997), which is one volume
for only $90.00.
Though if you can wait for the next edition, I haven't seen
any ads for it yet, but I'd expect the 14th Abridged edition
to be published sometime in the next year or so. (?). It
usually comes out a bit after regular edition is updated.
In a related vein: for subject headings, we use Sears Subject
Headings (H.W. Wilson) rather than Library of Congress.
Again, it's one volume instead of several, it's much less
expensive, and it's perfectly adequate for the needs of
smaller libraries.
