The Negro in our History was written by Carter G. Woodson, also known as the Father of Negro History. This is a classic in the field but I am not sure how it relates to today's youth. Typically I have weeded many newer books that contain the term Negro in the title but have kept the Woodson title because of the significance of the author. The title is available electronically (http://www.cwru.edu/UL/preserve/stack/Negro.html ) so students will still have access to it even if it is removed from your shelves.
