LM Netters- I have a student who has begun to write a book. She needs help with formulating different elements, such as setting. I am looking for a good, inspirational "how to write fiction" book for her. Do any of you have suggestions? Also, in her book, she has included the fire-lizards from Anne McCaffrey's books. They are the same critters, with the same name, so I know it wouldn't be legal for her to publish a work with them in it, but what is the copyright law regarding a using the same character/characters from a book? I'd like to be able to be specific in explaining the law to her. Thanks for any info you might have! Tish Carpinelli, Media Specialist Lower Cape May Regional H.S.
