Joy, I agree with Earl in that when those in power do not see the importance of our being, then we become like the dinosaur. I am a firm believer in that we must show how important it is to have a media specialist on campus everyday. This is another reason that we need to be involved in politics. Education is the most political venues, but it shouldn't be. Being a media specialist/school board member has allowed me plenty of time to watch those in power and try to convince them of how the educational process works. It is up to us, the Super Media Specialists to educate those in power. You must be persistent in your beliefs and impose them on everyone. Leave no room for doubt! I know that I am asking a lot from everyone to get involved, but don't wait until it is too late and then become reactive. Always be proactive, for it is then those in power come to YOU for advice.
