For an inservice in our district, I am trying something out of the
ordinary. Our district has two four day inservices at the end of the year
and at the beginning with prescribed courses. Having been to Japan this
summer on a FCCEAS study program, I am required to do an inservice on
Japan. In early December, 20+ teaachers are invited to my home for an
evening on Japan. Emphasis will be on geography and culture. A japanese
teacher will speak; Japanese students from our local college will help me
cook; we'll sit geographically; have a book talk and many materials will
be provided. The district approved this plan and is giving three credits
for the evening.
