Hello, Thanks to all who responded. It does give me an idea of what others are doing out there, and some ideas to present. Sincerely, Ms. Leanne Ellis High School Librarian Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln Andres Ferreyra 4073 1636 La Lucila Buenos Aires, Argentina ellis_l@lincoln.edu.ar Our biology teacher and I annually do a collaboration which teaches students to evaluate websites and write a basic HTML web page around weather and/or evolution. My role is to guide the research, working in lessons on using several resources. We also work in the bibliographic lesson. The science teacher and I together try (note the emphasis on try) to then elicit some level of critical thinking, rather than encouraging a virtual cut and paste of airline specifications. Does that help any? Ann Ann Schmeelcke (Johnson) Library Media Specialist Westbrook Middle/High School 156 McVeagh Rd. Westbrook, CT 06498 ajohnson@westbrookctschools.org;; Hi Leanne: I don't know whether or not this will help. I am a Middle School media specialist. I am collaborating with an 8th grade English teacher and 8th grade Science teacher. In a nutshell, we are working to help the students improve their research skills and their science fair projects. We have been teaching them proper bibliographic format (aligned with what the high schools in our county follow) and how to use Microsoft Excel to create professional quality data for their projects. We plan to expand to include critical analysis and validity of web sources. This is the first year, but the expected outcome is a higher quality science project. The Math and science teachers are also collaborating in my school, but I don't have the particulars.
