I received two responses from LM_Netters. You'll find them below. Thanks for replying to my question! "A copy is a copy, whether it is exact or not. Making multiple copies of a TofC is the same as making multiple copies of an article. However you could make one copy for yourself and pass it around, or post it for viewing (though not on the web)." "Listings of ingredients or contents cannot be copyrighted. However, the layout of the page of the actual table of contents can be copyrighted. If you are retyping the listing, you are safe. It would be much easier to photocopy the tables of contents. You could ask permission to do so and save yourself a lot of typing. Since you are actually advertising the content of the journal, I don't believe you will get many negative replies." At the AEA, we also belong to AIME (Association for Information Media and Equipment). As a member we also have access to legal counsel. I just received an answer from AIME today....Their interpretation is: "Transcribing title and author is clearly not a problem. Abstract information can constitute a copyrighted work."
